Fayose, Jega canvass quality education at ABUAD’s convocation
Ado Ekiti—Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, yesterday, called for a reform in the education sector that will involve learning and character.
Commending the founder of Afe Babalola University, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, for his innovation and vision which propelled him to establish the university on the two virtues, the duo said this would go a long way in sharpening the minds of future leaders for better governance and value re-orientation.
Speaking at the 3rd convocation ceremony of the university, Fayose said there is no alternative to holistic education that would not only impact knowledge, but would imbue graduates with characters that would translate into desirable changes in the society.
At the convocation, Jega bagged honourary doctor of Public Administration, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, was conferred with the honorary Doctor of Letters, former ICPC Chairman, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, was conferred with the Doctor of Law and Bishop Matthew Kukah bagged Doctor of Letters of the institution.
