Cut-off mark controversy: 5 reasons candidates are challenging JAMB -

Candidates billed to participate in the 2015/2016 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) across several tertiary
institutions have continued to challenge attempted moves by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suddenly change the screening
procedure, in agreement with institutions.

Vanguard, captured five reasons why candidates are protesting against the apex examination body, JAMB.
– Inability of some candidates to access the University of Lagos website to register for the Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination (UTME), because the university jerked its JAMB cut-off mark from 200 to 250.
– Adoption of a new policy where candidates who applied to universities with surplus applicants for the UTME to be reassigned to
other universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities.
– Last year, JAMB reduced options of institution of choice from six to three. Candidates now have to choose one university, polytechnic and college of education. With this development, candidates are querying why they should be posted to a school they never applied for
-Alleged attempted move to jerk the JAMB cut-off mark across four other most sought-after Federal universities, from 200 to 250
– Call on UNILAG and other universities to reverse to the official 180 cut-off marks
